Overview
The Society for Underwater
Technology (SUT) is the pre-eminent learned society concerned with
all sectors where technology is being used under the water.
These range from deepwater oil and gas to marine renewable energy
and other subsea resources via underwater science and archaeology.
The SUT's Council is conscious that it is important to
recognise that the subsea/offshore
industry is not insular and that there is a relationship with the
insurance, financial and commercial sectors. It was proposed to hold
an evening meeting at a central venue to present an overview of the
subsea industry to an audience from these sectors and disseminate
our experience.
The evening meeting was
designed to present an overview of the subsea industry to an
audience from these sectors and disseminate our experience and
identify and discuss key issues, especially where legislation will
have an impact.
The chairman for the evening
was Brian Jones, Associate of London Offshore Consultants, who is a
SUT accredited subsea engineer with extensive experience and
knowledge of the subsea sector.
