All-Electric Subsea Systems: The Next Steps

Cameron has recently provided an all-electric solution (CameronDC) for a shallow water development offshore Holland and installed its first all-electric subsea trees. Jan van den Akker was the project manager for this development, and he presented the technical solution and described the major system components that enable an all-electric subsea system. Using fibre optic technology, new ways were shown to further develop this subsea system. Examples were shown on the capabilities electric systems give with regard to well control possibilities, as well as performance assessment to indentify changing conditions, such as wear and tear of valves.
