BP Greater
Plutonio Subsea System Commissioning Programme and Lessons Learned
Paul Martyniak, Lead Subsea
Commissioning
In the October 2007, BP started
oil and gas production from the Greater Plutonio development its first
subsea production system offshore Angola. With a planned total of 43
wells tied back to an FPSO, this is currently BP's largest subsea
development. To bring the Plutonio wells online safely, a commissioning
programme was developed to energise, pressure/function test and fully
certify the newly installed subsea equipment and infrastructure. This
included the subsea production system, umbilicals and subsea
instrumentation.
Paul Martyniak was BP's lead
subsea commissioning engineer offshore on Greater Plutonio and
presented various aspects of the commissioning programme. The
presentation included a description of subsea systems and hardware
actually performed, and some lessons learned.
